Business Controller (France)
BUSINESS CONTROLLER (TOM&CO FRANCE)
Are you passionate about data analysis and driving commercial performance to foster business growth? Join us to help expand our brand in France. As the management controller for Tom&Co's operations in France, you will oversee the financial activities of our headquarters and stores across the country. You will conduct financial analyses, develop financial planning processes, and design and implement financial plans. Acting as the right-hand person to the France Director (COO) for all financial management matters, you will report to the Group Finance Director (CFO) of Tom&Co, based in Belgium.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Tracking and Cost Analysis
- Monitor and interpret results based on strategic and operational goals (financial and qualitative performance) set by management.
- Analyze costs of products or services and expenses by activity type, measuring and tracking variances in results and risks relative to forecasted objectives.
- Translate quantitative data (revenue, net accounting results, profitability rate, return on investment) and qualitative data into business insights.
- Assess the relevance of strategies, procedures, management tools (ERP) and performance metrics (KPIs, performance dashboards) and their implementation.
Budget Forecasting and Planning
- Conduct periodic budget control: gather and synthesize budget data across activities, analyze and anticipate budget variances, and monitor their progress.
- Develop short-term budget plans (new spending commitments, budget compliance) and medium-term plans (forecasting funding needs).
- Create forecast budgets and anticipate upcoming results.
- Construct forecasted activity plans and annual budget performance goals (expense management).
Participation in Financial Closures
- Review and validate general and analytical accounting data, conduct comprehensive analysis (provisions, costs, cash flow).
- Reconcile accounting statements with performance dashboards.
- Track the income statement and balance sheet, particularly for one-time expenses.
- Alert operational teams in cases of budget overruns.
Management Reporting
- Ensure periodic communication and presentation of financial and management information.
- Produce detailed activity reports and performance dashboards.
- Write economic analyses and forecasts, and synthesize budget management information.
- Develop long-term estimated financial statements based on activity results.
Proposing Corrective Actions
- Collaborate with managers and operational teams to identify optimization areas, and define budgetary and qualitative optimization solutions.
- Suggest improvements or changes: strategy, operational objectives, governance, business plans, procedures, management and control tools.
- Lead action plans and collaborative projects, support change management, and communicate key issues (best practices, cybersecurity risks, fraud prevention).
- Facilitate and share experience feedback sessions.

DESIRED PROFILE
With a Master's degree (BAC+5) in finance or management, you have at least three years of experience in commercial management control, ideally in the retail sector.
You are passionate about data analysis and driving commercial performance to boost business growth.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in accounting and financial techniques, information systems (Excel, spreadsheets, databases, ERP)
- SAP knowledge is a plus
- Excellent data analysis skills (multidimensional and descriptive), statistical, economic, and accounting analysis
- Strong budget management skills
- Good understanding of corporate culture (business, operations, values, codes, languages)
- Proficiency in professional English
