Category Buyer

We are seeking a passionate and driven Category Buyer to manage and develop our product assortments, ensuring customer satisfaction and driving business success. In this role, you will be empowered to negotiate deals, shape our product strategy, and collaborate with a dynamic team of professionals across various departments.

 

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with suppliers by negotiating pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules. Ensure optimal purchasing conditions to achieve cost efficiency, quality, and reliability.
• Analyse market trends, competitors, and consumer behaviour to establish competitive price positioning. Ensure products are attractive to customers while maintaining profitability.
• Monitor and optimize margins, ensuring that the category remains profitable. Identify opportunities to enhance revenue without compromising on product quality or customer satisfaction.
• Ensure smooth daily operations with suppliers. Manage supply chain logistics, monitor performance, resolve issues, and guarantee product availability while maintaining quality standards.
• Track industry trends, emerging products, and consumer demands. Translate insights into product assortment strategies that keep offerings innovative, relevant, and aligned with market evolution.
• Coach and develop your team, fostering collaboration and efficiency. Ensure high-quality output and support team growth through guidance and training, driving performance excellence.
• Work closely with Marketing, Finance, Logistics, and other departments to align category strategies with business objectives. Ensure smooth coordination and contribute to shared organizational success.

 

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Marketing, or related fields.
• 2-5 years of hands-on experience in Procurement, with a passion for negotiation and market strategy.
• Strong organizational skills, with a structured approach to work.
• Excellent communication skills, able to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Fluency in French, Dutch, and English is essential.
• Knowledge of the Pet market is a bonus, but not required.
